Trends for Quilt Fabric Searches

Is online fabric sales seasonal? If you're seeing a slight decrease in online fabric sales this time of year, it may be because there are fewer people online looking for quilting fabric this time of year.
There's a really neat tool called Google Trends. Google Trends is a website that shows you Google search volume for certain keywords over time. It's useful in determining trends. I did a search for the term "quilting fabric", "moda fabric", and other popular terms. It shows that around this time of year, online searches for fabric really slow down but spike back up after Christmas:

Notice that for every year, towards the end of the year, searches for the term "quilting fabric" slow down, but jump right back up at the beginning of the new year.

Now would be a good time to start planning January sales and online marketing strategy for the next year. I highly recommend search engine optimization, Quilter's Daily Special, FindMyFabric.com, Quiltvertiser, and other online marketing strategies geared towards quilters.
