10 Ways To Market Your Quilting-related Website

Posted by administrator on Saturday, September 17th, 2011

Although you may have the best looking website with the most sophisticated programming functions, they will not help you one bit if nobody visits your website. Like any business or worthwhile venture, your prospective customers need to know about your website. Begin by thinking about who your ideal customer is, and find out how to get your message in front of them.

There are many ways to go about marketing your website. Below is a list of ten popular methods:

  1. Start a free e-Newsletter. Focus on publishing great content people will want to read and forward to their friends.

  2. People networking. Take time to develop genuine relationships with others in your industry and look for opportunities to serve others first. Opportunities for others to help you will naturally come.

  3. Social networks. Did you know that 71% of quilters that shop online use Facebook? If you don't “get” social networking, begin by creating a free account on Facebook and start talking with friends. Other social networks include forums & discussion groups and mailing lists such as Yahoo Groups.

  4. Search engine optimization. Learn and apply principles of how to have your site rank higher than your competitors. High-ranking sites bring in customers that search the web for the products and services you offer.

  5. Online advertising. Create ads that invite prospective customers to your website. Google Adwords is one example of how to accomplish this.

  6. Online video. Create videos with great content and upload them to YouTube. YouTube is the world's second most popular search engine, right behind Google.

  7. Offline advertising. Radio, TV, newspaper, signs, and magazine ads can be used to invite people to come to your website.

  8. Special promotion through “Daily Deal” companies. These companies will market your products & services on your behalf.

  9. Specialized search engines. Submit your products to Find My Fabric, FabShop Search, or Google Shopping to gain extra exposure.

  10. Directory submissions. List your website on directories that relate to what you offer. These directories make it easy for others to find out more about you.

Some of the marketing services we provide to quilters include FindMyFabric.com, QuiltersDailySpecial.com, a do-it-yourself search engine optimization program, and Quiltvertiser.com for banner ads. Check out ConnectedThreadz.com for a quilter's social network.
