Website Enhancements

Posted by administrator on Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

In order for you to be successful online, you need to have a website that is functional, aesthetically pleasing, and interactive.  In this blog, we will focus on how to make your website interactive and fun by adding website enhancements.

If you are planning a website, talk to your web developer about programming these functions into your site.  If you already have a website, see if any of these functions can be added on.

Upcoming Events Calender

An events calender helps your visitors quickly find out about your buiness's happenings. Events such as in-store classes, shows, or your travel or teaching schedule are great events to put on your website.

Discussion Group and Mailing List

Forums and mailing lists helps people discuss ideas, keep in touch, and teach each other new and improved ways of doing things. When your website facilitates communication among others that have an interest in your topics, your website become popular as well as an effective selling tool.

Surveys

Surveys are a very effective and important tool in researching how well you are doing with your website, and what you can do to improve your product or service.  Regularly surveying your customers can give you insights that you hadn't thought of yourself.

Testimonials/Comments

Testimonials and comments are very effective in selling your products or services.  People tend to trust testimonials and recommendations a lot more than an advertisement.  Ask your best clients for written endorsements, and allow others to leave comments on your products.

Store Locator

If you distribute your products to many locations, a store locator is a helpful enhancement to add. Good store locators make it easy for visitors to find locations that sell your product or service.

Password Protect Parts of Your Site

Protecting areas of your website with passwords can give your clients the impression that the information available on the other side is for "members only", sparking their curiosity and interest.

Photo Gallery, Video and Slide Shows

This is where you 'show off' your products!  Make sure that your photography is high-grade and professional looking.  Also, consider doing a slideshow on your homepage.  Slideshows create a visual 'change of scenery' that will catch your viewers attention.  Put pictures of yourself and your employees on your site.   Having a picture connected with a name will make your customers feel more secure knowing that there are actual people behind your website.  Videos can be both educational and fun, and are a great interactive tool.

Do Something New!

What are your some of your ideas?

If you are already using some of these functions, brainstorm other ways to improve your website enhancements!  (Again, surveys are excellent here!)  If you're not currently using any of these ideas, consider adding them to your site!

Wishing you the best,
